1.4.8

A faster route to the same result

Faster CIELAB 2 and Oklab planning, with less repeated work when previewing your project.

  • CIELAB 2 planning reuses exact per-color calculations during search, refinement, assignment and CPU mapping.
  • Oklab planning avoids repeated stack copying and matching setup while preserving existing search and quality settings.
  • Repeated previews reuse encoded comparison images when the pixels and layout match.
  • The interface and application API are unchanged. This update does not promise a general RAM reduction or introduce a new GPU processing path.

1.4.7

More room to explore, easier to keep

Compare two completed previews, save projects naturally, and refine with preferences from different areas.

  • Compare two preview versions at full resolution with linked pan and zoom and a settings-difference table.
  • Save remembers your current project; Save As creates a new named version.
  • Region Edit supports up to 1,024 groups within its existing complexity and history-memory limits.
  • Guided refinement can use preferred areas from different candidates to generate new complete alternatives.
  • Preview failures remain visible with a retry action. Missing border-filament choices recover to Follow image stack while retaining frame settings.

1.4.6

The bridge comes to Linux

Matching application and bridge packages for Windows, Linux and both Mac architectures.

  • Bridge 0.8.0 adds Linux image sending, full filament-plan transfer, preview validation and guarded Personal Library synchronization.
  • macOS Intel and Apple Silicon retain local bridge support alongside Windows.
  • Color-distance rounding is consistent on ARM across serial and batched mapping.
  • Use HueForge 0.9.4.4 or later. Linux packages target Ubuntu 24.04; Mac packages require macOS 13 or later.

1.4.5

Mac bridge groundwork

Local bridge support was implemented for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, with Windows packages supplied for this release.

  • Bridge 0.7.0 adds Mac transport for image and full-plan transfer, preview validation and guarded filament synchronization.
  • Mac package publication followed in 1.4.6 after native build checks.
  • Existing Windows bridge identity, connection protocol and filament TD measurements remain unchanged.

1.4.4

Tidy small surface spikes

Optional surface cleanup lowers small isolated raised patches in frontlit Color Match.

  • Reduce surface spikes offers adjustable strength and maximum region area under Print → Advanced → Surface cleanup.
  • Cleanup uses colors and heights already present in the planned stack while retaining measured filament TD.
  • Review changed areas in the image and layers; small intentional details may resemble spikes and some peaks can remain.
  • HFP exports and direct transfers explicitly disable matching bounds for virtual sliders to preserve the intended height mapping.
Windows x64

1.4.3

Give existing outlines more weight

Optional dark-outline strengthening for cartoons, lettering and illustrations.

  • Strengthen dark outlines favors darker existing lines without widening them.
  • Inspect the Detected outlines view and adjust strength before keeping the result.
  • Frontlit Color Match can request a minimum black thickness under detected lines within the existing stack limits.
  • Source artwork and measured filament TD remain unchanged.
Windows x64

1.4.2

Choose your mix of filament brands

Search and select several brands together without losing the rest of your library filters.

  • Search partial brand names or use wildcards, check matching brands, then apply your selection.
  • Checked brands stay selected as you search; clearing the selection returns to All brands.
  • Projects, profiles, recovery and preview history retain the applied brand selection.
Windows x64

1.4.1

Send larger artwork to HueForge

Oversized full-plan transfers can use an automatically resized copy that fits HueForge's import limits.

  • Transfer copies fit the SDK limits of 8,192 pixels per side and 16,777,216 pixels total.
  • The original source, preview, saved project and HFP export retain their full resolution.
  • Physical print dimensions and filament settings are preserved. Fine details can be lost in the smaller transfer copy.
  • Oversized Jigsaw plans continue to use HFP export to preserve their cuts.

1.4.0

Your collection, your way of working

Reusable filament palettes, discoverable saved presets and a choice of color-matching methods.

  • Save common spool combinations as searchable filament palettes with color strips.
  • Find built-in presets, custom presets and saved profiles together.
  • Choose from six HueForge matching methods, with Oklab as the default for new work.
  • Select supported Windows GPU color mapping independently from interface rendering.
  • Improved large-image Region Edit and Guided refinement workflows.
Windows x64

1.3.1

An easier bridge installation

The combined Windows installer recognizes the production HueForge 0.9.4.4 executable.

  • Automatic bridge installation reads HueForge's executable version metadata.
  • An absent or incompatible HueForge installation still allows application-only setup.
  • Bridge identity, transfer protocol and runtime capability checks remain unchanged.

Introducing SimpliForge

The first production release under the SimpliForge name brings the ColorNinja tools into a four-step desktop workspace.

  • Prepare images with Simple reducer, Filament Guide, Color Match and Color Pop.
  • Plan stacks, inspect heights, edit regions, add borders and Imprint, and retain work in portable .simpliforge projects.
  • Review preview versions and Print readiness before export or transfer.
  • Includes filament management, TD1/TD1S tools, local recovery, walkthroughs and offline help.
  • Continues compatible ColorNinja projects and profiles under the new name.
Windows x64

1.2.1

Save and export once

ColorNinja's native Save As confirmation is used consistently for the exact file selected.

  • Removes duplicate replacement prompts after the native dialog confirms an overwrite.
  • Changed filenames and companion project or profile files retain their own confirmation.
  • Includes the filament management, device tools and profile imports introduced in 1.2.0.

1.2.0

A home for your filament collection

Filament-library editing, profile imports and TD1/TD1S USB tools arrive in ColorNinja.

  • Add, edit, duplicate and remove spools while retaining supported library metadata and backups.
  • Review TD1/TD1S readings, optionally update color and retain measurement history.
  • Import copied profile text, saved HTML or exported CSV from 3D Filament Profiles.

1.1.6

Carry region edits into HueForge

Compatible whole-region edits become native SpotFix groups in exported HueForge projects.

  • HFP exports preserve compatible region assignments as SpotFix groups; other edits keep their finished appearance through baked heights.
  • Companion ColorNinja projects retain the complete editable groups.
  • Border color and depth controls make printable frame heights easier to choose.

1.1.0

Take control of local heights

Region Edit adds selections, height assignments and protected editable groups.

  • Select with click, lasso, polygon, rectangle or brush, then assign or move selected heights.
  • Refine selections, clean local heights, protect named groups and compare before and after.
  • Portable projects retain exact footprints and the original generated plan.

1.0.0

The ColorNinja foundation

Color Match and Color Pop establish the image and filament-planning workflows that became SimpliForge.

  • Arrange source-color groups to influence their order in the filament stack.
  • Plan within filament, depth and swap constraints while comparing the predicted result.
  • Use Simple reducer and Filament Guide for image preparation.
